Starbase Atlantis and Art

It's so wild to see Owen carry a backpack, since they home school I don't get a chance to see them do regular school stuff. The first day was tough; 8am-3pm , one break for food, paying attention the whole time was good for them though. This week they got to go to Starbase Atlantis on Ford Island. Definitely check Locations to see if there is one near you because it is an amazing program using science, technology, engineering, and math in practical ways. I was so amazed with all the information the boys would tell me at the end of the day. The boys were signed up by call signs, at check in Evan says his, Ballistic, Erica says to the leaders, "it should be Warning."
They used CAD (I think) programming to design a space station, all terrain vehicles, and submersibles, use a flight simulator, as well as a diving simulator which replicates the conditions in a submarine's control room, learned damage control techniques, diesel operations, had air conditioning training...

Owen's team was Columbia, and Evan's team Atlantis, won the engineering award because they designed a working landing module for the least amount of money.
getting ready to shoot off their bottle rockets-both went very high,

Saturday morning art class,

we saw the kittens playing with this bird's nest in the back yard.
