Salt Crick & Slick Rock to Echo Lake Trail Oregon

Mmm...I started my day with some local ice cream,
instead of turning right to go down the mountain we went left to Salt Crick with all the kids and Clint in the back of the truck,
Court with Tanya's kids,
there were stands of Aspen with all different types of fencing around them to see what works best to keeps the cattle out,

Salt Crick-really a pond stocked with fish,

tons of dragon flies,

Clint was amazing, so patient with all the kids, teaching them all about fishing and promising each one would catch a fish-a promise he kept!

catching bait,

Owen got one,
Dane was so great, right down at the water edge scooping up all the fish in his net,
Owen's is a keeper,
Erica working with Clint and Dane to reel in hers,
they scored the biggest one of the day,

Clint teaching them how to field dress the fish-maybe it's called gutting it...

Dane caught a dragonfly,

Olivia caught one too!

hanging out,

I just love these mts...can you tell?

While we were fishing Fred, Erik and Tanya headed to Slick Rock for a 10 mile run-we'll do 8 of it tomorrow as a hike, Erik and Fred took all of these pictures and most of them are pretty different from the ones I took,

snow,

did it!
Embers for cheese bread,
meanwhile back at the castle,

Clint showed the kids how to filet the fish they caught,

okay, that's pretty gross,
then he cooked it,

and made an amazing cracker topping,
Fred came up with a game-tossing rocks into the bucket,
Tanya doing laundry out of a bucket with a baby on her back!

this is Fred's view looking left to right (sorry my panorama washes out),

the castle which Fred built pretty much by himself,

he did the fireplace,

all the molding,
Marsha did the gold leaf,

Erik helped weld the shelves when we were her 15 years ago,
Fred is an ultra-marathon runner,

out house,

having a blast on the Cat,

down the hill building a dam,

we all walked back up to the cattle guard to get pictures of the mts in Idaho,
I just love mountains! A great end to August 23rd.
