Joseph, Wallowa River Trail, Eagle Gap Wilderness, Wallowa Lake Oregon

Heading down the road from Fred's house we often see deer,
once on Imnaha Road-the main road heading to the town of Joseph are beautiful farms,

and mountains,

Erik's high school-there were 18 in Erik's senior class,
we stop in town at Jerry's-the market where Erik worked, Erica loves the bears,
and ten commandments,
this becomes our favorite stop-we are so amazed the cost of everything is so cheap compared to HI,
more cute bears,
looking across the street,

Joseph is an enclave for artisans,
bronze work is displayed on the street that runs through town to the lake,
we reach the lake,

where we see more deer,
and head out on an awesome hike,

the first part is all up hill,
Fred points out the old wooded pipe that brought water to the lake community down below,
still going up,

the trail up is surrounded by beautiful mountain views,

still going up, the trail continues up to the top of Mt. Joseph,

we turn off,

more yummy berries-Olivia called them thimble-berries,

one of the many incredible rock slides,

more rock slides,

still more slides,
now a wasp hive,

over a log,

through the woods,
traverse more rock slides,

about this point we start hearing water-like raging water,
Fred had said we'd need to cross a crick,
but it's more like a water fall,

but fear not-who better to be in this situation with!

looking down the falls,
we are all safely across,

the girls checking out some sap while Erik fills the water bottles from the falls,
Erica giving Fred a hug and telling him he is her hero,

Erica finds another caterpillar,
heading down and hearing more water,
dropping poo sticks off the bridge-of course the stick Fred chose won,

maybe this is the crick Fred was thinking about and the raging rapids just slipped his mind...

more trails start on this side,

the boys were wishing they had a tube,
hanging out,
Erik decides everyone needs a dip in the 42 degree lake, Evan was having a hard time with this,

Owen was brave,

Oh no, last one out and he gets pulled under,

Erica playing with Kimber,

Fred pops a beer with an ax,

dinner time,

now play time!,

Evan loved hanging with Bones,
and playing with Dane,

then Bones and Dane,
heading back into town,

back on Imnaha Rd,
so what does the drive up to Fred's house look like?

a dirt road heading up the mountain,
throw in a few gorgeous views,
a sunset,

a few bumps,
loads of dust,

gravel,
it's a very long dive-but at least it's fun,

more bumps,
yay!, there's the turn to Fred's,
oh no, still more to go-no one ever complained though-not once-we actually love the drive because we know a castle awaits...more on that tomorrow! We had such an incredible day today-August 22-our anniversary-15 years!! Couldn't pick a better place to be-as a matter a fact we came here a week after we were married.
