Egypt Day 1 Tues, Jan 18

We are so excited, our first time on the continent of Africa,
getting ready to land,
we were the last off the plane because Erica got sick, so we rode to the terminal with the flight crew,
leaving the air port, we heard thunder and there was a dark cloud to the north,
heading south to Cairo,

so cool, right away we know we are in the right country!
the next thing we notice is the way people drive-Orouba Road, which is 3 lanes actually becomes 5 lanes, cars cut in and out, it's crazy-worse than Italy I think!
along Orouba Street is a military academy, there are beautiful murals depicting historical military scenes. I managed to get a picture of this board showing ancient to modern soldiers.

there are many beautiful villas along the way,
Masjid Al-Sayeda Safeya

Erik took this, this truck was whipping around lanes and the tanks were rolling around,

on the highway I saw a guy jump out of a white mini bus while it was moving. We saw these white mini buses all over, most were stuffed full of people with two or three hanging off the back, these are inexpensive ways for people to get about.

Our hotel Sofitel El Gezirah, it's beautiful and with the lighting at night looked exactly like this, it smelled amazing also,

blurry picture of our room,
Cairo at night, this fountain was so pretty, lit up at night.
