Final Day, Easter Sunday

With great sadness we break camp and get ready for our last day on Kaua'i.
Owen is being the bunny god.
These trees are gorgeous. They even have one in the peachy orange color I love so much but I wasn't able to get a picture.
On the road south heading to our final hike.
Stop at a beach.
Back up Canyon Drive.

What a gorgeous view.
A spectacular day.
Last hike, day 5: 10 miles. Have you been keeping count? It should be a total of 32.5 miles we have all walked (except Erica rode part of it). Because we could not make it all the way around the Nu'alolo Cliff Trail (day 2) we decided to start at the other end and hike back to where we couldn't pass.
Here we are beginning the Awa'awapuhi Trail which will junction with the Nu'alolo Cliff Trail.
Lots of ferns and forest.
At the end of the Awa'awapuhi Trail over looking the Na Pali coast.
What a view. We were above the birds and the helicopters.
Anyone decided to book a trip to Kauai yet??
We saw whales.
Can't tell where the ocean ends and the sky begins.
Majestic.

We crossed a few dry streams.
What a glorious place. Yes, we truly are on the edge and there are no guard rails.
Unbelievable.
This tall grass was like a huge maze.
Here we are at the other end of where we had to turn around on Thursday. The trail is actually better on this side. Around the corner there is no trail.
The drop of that tiny trail from a distance. You can see the trail about 2/3 of the way up.
I will never tire of the Na Pali coast.
We had some tiny trail in parts but at least there was no crumbling rocks and 2,000' drop.
Taking a break, we are just about to the end. Owen slid at one point and was sitting there not saying anything looking at his hands. We were getting a bit concerned then he says, "where did the lady bug go?" Apparently he had been carrying a little lady bug so the hunt was on for another one. Here is Erica and ladybug. We were on this trail totally by ourselves. It was a lonesome feeling. Michelle, Charlie, and Hope had an awesome day kayaking and seeing tons of sea turtles. We have the Hauptmann in us and couldn't leave the hike unfinished.

Amazing! I am truly in awe of the beauty there, and I think it is so awesome that you guys get out and enjoy it so much! Looks like you had a good time hiking and campling, although the first day looked pretty chilly! What troopers you all are!

Great pictures! Looked like an amazing trip. I can't even imagine that many miles in so few days. Any blisters? Tanya is right, total troopers!
