Beautiful Historic Virginia Part 2

Skyline Drive to Appomattox Court House, Virginia. At the McLean house in the village of Appomattox Court House, Virginia on April 9, 1865 General Robert E. Lee surrendered the Army of Northern Virginia to General Ulysses S. Grant. 



















































 Lynchburg, Virginia, Fort Early and Sandusky Mansion in Lynchburg, Virginia. In June, 1864 Lynchburg, Virginia was attacked by the Union army under the command of General David Hunter but a local Confederate defense force held them off until reinforcements from the regular Confederate army in the Richmond defenses under the command of Gen. Jubal Early could arrive and drive them back into the Shenandoah Valley thereby saving Lynchburg from certain destruction.
