My Dad

Every daughter should just love their dad and think he is just the coolest guy in the world. That would be my dad, he is so smart, just about always right-on current events, and brilliant on history. He is all the way on the left holding the American flag. He needs to start a blog, he is a wealth of information, travels like crazy, and involved in a lot of living history and historical societies.

Monday

While I took Evan to get his tooth fixed Erica jumped off the high dive 3 times this morning. Hopefully she will go again and I can get pictures.
A temporary fix. Looks so much better though.
What happens with school supplies during the summer...they totally had a fire going. Remember doing this as a kid? I saw to it that no insects or lizards were injured.

Family Fun Night

We went to Schofield's (the Army base) family fun night. We had a blast.
Dinner donated by Pappa John's,
air hockey,
Erica smiled the whole night,
Daddy played darts with the boys, Evan got to watch baseball,
and we played some pool. Looking forward to next month.

Holy Goosebumps Batman

Owen is allergic to some types of dogs but he forgets. His nose runs, he gets bumps all over, today he got a huge welt.

Crazy...

Flowers for Friday

My friend Traci (McDavid Chronicles) posted on doing a treasure hunt. That's what we feel like- when we are on our search for flowers and fruit. This week we were on the hunt for different colors of plumeria. We really enjoyed this because plumerias smell amazing. To quote Hoops and Yo Yo..."smelly good...times like these I get down on my knees and thank God I have a nose...my nostrils have gone to heaven..."
Owen made Erica a plumeria ring. Here you will find plumeria leis and plumerias tucked behind an ear.
This isn't a plumeria but since it smells super good too it's in this post.
white (they all have a bit of a yellow center),
these look very peachy from a far,
yellow,
the underside of the pink (the kids said I had to post this,
light pink,
darker pink,
very dark pink, they almost look red standing on the ground.

Friday's Fruit

Mangoes! Mmmm...when we lived in our first house here I would get off The Bus and walk up the hill past this huge mango tree..
Lychee!! Super Ummmm! I took the kids by the house we rented the first year we were here (Sept 1996-Aug 1997). This huge lychee tree was in the front yard. I would come home from school and there would be big brown paper grocery sacks full of lychee at the door (left by the landlord who lived next door). The first time I saw it I had no idea what they were. After the first one I was in love and quickly devoured the entire bag full. It wasn't until we moved that we learned that a tiny bag would sell for $8! The taste is sweet and juicy, the texture somewhat like the inside of a grape and you can't stop eating them.
Any idea what these are?
They are huge. The local name for this is jabong (don't ask me). When I was in school a few of my patients would bring me these. I can't really describe the taste, they are very sour but in a delicious sort of way-not like a lemon. The sections are gigantic and not very juicy.
Coconuts. I think about Erik coming back with wood for the fire and coconuts he found when we were camping on Kauai. Never sit under a coconut tree, I imagine it could be quite painful should one drop.
